Spinal Decompression

What is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Non-surgical spinal decompression therapy is a motorized traction therapy that gently stretches the spine. This results in a change of force and position of the spine which takes the pressure off of the spinal discs or nerves. This greatly benefits people with neck and back pain as they age.

This gentle, non-surgical procedure can provide lower back and neck pain relief, sciatica pain relief, and is a state of the art procedure for bulging, herniated, or degenerative disc disease in the cervical and lumbar regions. As you age, the disc that sit between the bones of your spine loses fluid and as a result, your spine compresses the disc and you have less protection between each bone.

The gentle forces of spinal decompression therapy create a decompression of the spine to improve blood flow and nutrient exchange to the injured area. When you have spinal decompression therapy you’ll experience several cycles of stretch and relaxation, which graduated to a peak over a period of 15-18 minutes.

Spinal Decompression is used for

  • Back and neck pain or sciatica, which is pain , weakness, or tingling that extends down the leg
  • Bulging or herniated disc or degenerative disc disease
  • Worn spinal joints (called posterior facet syndrome)
  • Injured or diseased spinal nerve roots
